I bought my 68 318 Charger in 1997 a month away from being 17 years old. I spent most of my high school years washing farm implement to pay her off, and then went to college and graduated and then started grad school. I am 25 now, and I finally after saving up some money just purchased my first performance parts for my 318. Yes, I know what some of you are going to say about building a 318 over a big block. I am pretty excited because I have read countless magazines, books and talking to Chryco over the years has helped me getting to this day.

The parts I purchased are as follows.

Holley 600 cfm
Mopar Performance Dual Plane Intake
Engle K54 Cam
Mopar Performance electric ignition
MSD wires

Now I will go hunting for 302 casting heads, and will buy my TTI headers sometime this spring.

Around March I am taking her in and the engine is going to be rebuilt and an exhaust system will be put on.

I am pretty excited!

Shakey

Well congrats!  I'd be pretty excited too.

Good luck.

BTW - This car here is a 318 and it goes like a scared rabbit!   :yesnod:

rebuild? keep your stock motor for later, find a 360. it'll fit without to much trouble, and have more power. i know youve probably heard this before, but i cant help it. bigger, more powerful,  and it fits!!!

I know 360 bigger and all, but I want to keep it a 318 car. I just want a nice little crusier car. Plus I really don't have a garage right now so I don't want my 318 just sitting in my back lot.

I will have pics posted when I get the parts put on. I just ordered them yesterday. I just found out my intake was on back order so I will have to wait a little longer arg...

Good luck on the build  :icon_smile_big:

I`ll sell you the original 318 from my 68 Charger. It`s still in the car and runs great. It has an erson cam, erson valve covers, headers, aluminum 4 barrel intake, and an eddy carb.

I ran 318s for 14 years, 3 of them, two vans and the charger. great motor. saved my ass many a time.

Charger Aficionado

You can make a 318 ROCK, and still get Great gas mileage...

My first charger only had a 318, it pushed the 74 up to 150. and 90 in a 1/4 mile. those arent record 1/4 mile times , but it was a 3400lb car with 2.73 gears too. a quick car with good driveability and gas mileage.
