Sometime this summer I'm planning on finally doing the swap from the 727 to the Chryco Psycho 4-speed he built me (must have been 10 years ago).

Before I go spending a couple grand, if someone with some experience on Mopar 4-speeds and what is needed can take a look at my parts list I borrowed and modified as best I could from the sticky thread and the best vendor I could find that had most of what I needed, I'd appreciate it.

Links, or just google, "jimsautoparts <part number>" will pull the page

Things I already have....
1972 Dodge Charger with a Slap Stick Console Shifter
A-833OD transmission
Quicktime RM-6073 Bellhousing
BB stock Steel Flywheel
Clutch Fork

Links to the pages of the vendor I found most of this stuff at:

No time to check every part number, but here is my checklist:

1. Not sure that bell fits the AOD833 which has a larger input bearing diameter than 833. Since you say you have both bell and trans, measure and double check.
2. If the bell needs to be changed, make sure you buy fork, etc. that fits that bell.
3. You need TWO bell studs - one for the bell and one for the frame bracket. The stud in the bell does not require a nut.
4. Make sure your crank is drilled for a pilot bushing. Not all are.
5. Make sure your trans has the forward shift mount. This is needed for 72 console shifter linkage. Even so, often these trans tail forward shift mounts need to be drilled, so be prepared for that.
6. You'll need a dial gauge and magnetic base to set your bell offset.
7. A clutch pilot tool is a good idea for centering/aligning the clutch.
8. Your 727 speedo cable will work with the AOD833.
9. If you need to trim your console to fit 4 speed, I'd be happy to send you a template. No need to buy anything.
10. Match flywheel to forged or cast crank.
11. Add thread locker to your shopping list for flywheel bolts.
12. I did not see the aluminum shifter mount in the parts list but may have overlooked it (mounts between the tailshaft and actual shift er mechanism).
13. Make sure to hook up tabs and linkage on the trans for AOD833 which is different than std 833. Since the AOD did not come in the 72, you'll need to reference a later service manual.

Have fun rowing your boat.

That is an AWESOME and very comprehensive list aifilaw!! I mean whoever put that together knew their stuff!!

Hey a few things:
- For the console if you're going with the '72 style You shouldn't need to make any modifications, the cut out is standard for both Auto and manual if I'm not mistaken...3rd Gen and E-body guys chime in
- Also, the cracks and damage were for 1st and 2nd gen Consoles, I think the 3rd Gens are better..Oh no side cover either
- You are going to LOVE the car after the conversion...let me know if you have questions!

It's a 440 source 383>426 crank that's in there now. I will try to take some pictures of the trans and I need to get around to temp attaching the bell to the trans to see fitment for sure.

Ditch the stock flywheel. You just spent 700 dollars on a blowproof, you dont want to test it. Put an sfi wheel in it.

Pictures of the parts I do have so far. Tranny is a 23 spline
bellhousing is for a 13 tooth flywheel and fit as big as 11" clutch 7.4 deep 22 pounds
