Ex Buys Son A Car

My exwife and I were looking on Ebay last Sunday for a car for my son.He loves my 73 Charger so we were looking at 3rd Gens.As we sent messages back and forth , I spied one with 45 minutes left.After 40 minutes of messages I talked her into it.I figured some sniper would come along at the last minute and get it anyway.But she won it!It is a 73 Charger Ralley.340 car,column shift,no A/C.Low price, bare bones car.No motor or trans.It is a dark green color but will be painted blue.She got it, complete with Bulge Hood and Cut Out Valance for....$860!Will be here at the end of May.I can't wait to wrench on that!

Good for you and your son.     Much to my disappointment, my 15 YO son could care less about old cars. I`ve offered him a solid 72 with Rallye tail lights, doors, and bulge hood..............not interested...........

That looks like a damn good car to start with, & the price seems good too. Lately you don't see many cars for under a grand unless they're ready for the scrap man.

We don't get along that well, trust me lol.It took me 5 years just to be able to talk to her.The only thing we agree on is doing things for my son.And I had to push her into this Ralley really hard.She was looking at ones that were a lot worse shape.
I think my son has pretty much settled on painting it TB3 w/Gloss Black Stripes.We will change the interior over to Black.

Hey, believe me, that's good!  it's been nearly 5 years for me now, and I'll be VERY surprised if we're not back in court before this year's up   We talk to each others' lawyers significantly more than to each other.  Pretty much the extent of our direct conversation is her asking to talk to our son, I hand the phone off to him ... or asking if she can have visitation regardless of the fact that she's still refusing to comply with the court order.  *sigh*...

And before you call me mean for saying no, I don't mind her having visitation... but if she's not responsible enough to comply with a court order, how can I allow her to take my son 1,000 miles away?

My son was never into cars, but said he would be interested in restoring a old car when he returns home, but doesn't know anything about it.  That was great I always wanted to work on a car with him but I could never get him interested.   He is 24 now so I guess it's never to late.  Congrats on your score, I hope you and your son have a lot of quality time.

Thank you 41. My son is not like me and the other Mopar Gearheads I hang with but he loves my Charger so I'm thinking maybe he will get more interested if he has his own.I don't think it's ever too late especially when you can work on something with your kid(or wife even).If your project never gets finished you still will come out on the plus side.You will have the time spent together.Let's face it,life is just too short.

no problem, my son interviewed for a job here at my high school.  If he gets the job he will coach with me and move back to town, I am looking forward to it.
