Acruelly I think I need the over height of an assembled 727 with the pan on . I am dripping the tranny for a rebuild and need to know how high I need the cr off the ground .!

Hi C1968,

If your gonna drop the trans onto a small wheeled flat cart or trolley, you will need best part of TWO FEET, to clear the torsion bars and frame rails.
For safety I would put the front wheels onto high ramps and Jack the car up as high as possible at the rear with axle stands.
Get a large timber block to place under the pan to allow initial lowering from the engine.

Good luck and don't do this outside in the SNOW... :slap:
Never send to know, for whom the bell tolls,
IT TOLLS FOR THEE...

I have my car on HF 12 ton stands. They are on their lowest setting under the frame rails and I can slide the trans in and out on a plastic HF dolly.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I just measured one of mine (it is on a dolly) and the overall height of the 727 from the pan to the top of the bell housing is about 16-1/2". Make it 18" to be safe.  :icon_smile_wink:

With HF tranny jack, you will need just over 28" to pull out the side.
