Need help with cutout for quarter windows.

Hello.
I finally found quarter windows for my charger (1973/74). The car came out the factory with vinyl roof and opera windows. Now it seems, that when I put in the quarter windows, I need to cut out a piece of the body so that the windows can move. I already saw that on other Chargers, but didn´t measure the cut or made a picture....
So could maybe on of you guys tell me what dimensions the cut should have and where exactly it should be. Maybe send me some pictures, maybe with a scale on it...

The weatherstrip you have there really must take a vinyl cover known as WINDLACE COVER. Is interior color matched. Sometimes can be found by meters/feet on some kind of shops, but there are some resto dealers offering those cut to fit.

Do you maybe have a picture of the "Windlace cover", so I can imagine what I´m looking for. But anyway I will need to cut in the steel to give the window enough space to move properly, right?

But how does it look under the rubber? Is it your car? Could you maybe unscrew the four screws and make a picture of how the metal looks?

the pic I posted is to show the windlace cover not the quarter jam cut for the glass. No my car is not with me at this moment to show you that. I was already show you if it was posible. I can keep searching for a pic to you.

I just found this pic from a member's car on google search. Since he hosted the pic at Photobucket and they are not allowing to share pics for 3rd part hostage is not posible to get the pic on board anymore BUT google search still shows it, blurry, thought. I hope this helps

Here's a pic of my 69 and it looks real close to the pic Nacho posted.

You might go at this in a different way.   Get the seal (good luck), and then use the seal as a template to carve out the metal behind it.

well, 3rd gen has the advantage of the sheetmetal shape tells you where aprox finish the cut... 2nd gen seems to be completelly flat

Is it possible, that the shape of the sheetmetal is different between a SE Charger and a normal one? Especially in that part of the car "rear window / door"?
I thought on all Chargers from the same production year the body shape is exactly the same. Above all to reduce production costs....

I still have the "U-jamb seals" from the donor car of which I took the rear windows.
And they does´t seem to fit on my car. But both cars were 73 Chargers. Only that mine was a SE with the "opera" windows.

It seems, that there is a difference. Because I can only find the U-jamb seals for non SE cars....
But I would rather have the SE U jambs an cut them with a scissor than buying the non SE ones that don´t fit....

the seal for that is diff between SE and Hardtops/coupes for obvious reasons... The SE doesn't need that seal  because that area is part of the roof rail weatherstrip... along with the molding for it.

Since you are becoming your SE on a hardtop, you will need now a hardtop parts... this includes all the weatherstriping, seals and molds for it... once again for obvious reasons. Forget about SEs parts to you now
