a 833 4 speed rear extension housing question

hi everybody I am rebuilding my a 833 4 speed because mainly my rear extension housing seals was leaking and is alittle noisey  but I noticed at the back were the sleeve and rear extension housing seal goes into it there is a chip out of it is this a oil passage for the tailshaft yoke  or did somebody butcher it at some stage not sure so I thought id ask you guys and girls cheers cam

By "chip" are you referring to the slot at about the 7 o'clock position in this pic? If so, yes, it's an oil return passage.

Thanks for your imput mate I ended up calling brewers and yes that's what it is just freshening up the gear box before the 493 goes in hope its strong enough lol how much power on street tyres will they take you think
