unlike other 1970 b-bodies (non-Super Bee/Road Runner) it appears the '70 Charger when OPTIONED with the E63 "383 4bbl engine" received the 383HP (335hp) orange painted HOLLEY equipped engine

anyone know of and/or have proof of a '70 383 4bbl Charger that was built with a factory equipped CARTER AVS Blue engine?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

I have never seen a blue engine in '70.  Turquoise, yes.  Usually the A/C cars had the Holley with a turquoise engine.  More true of '69, but I have seen several restored 70 examples as well.   If you had the 4 bbl, good exhaust manifolds, and A/C; the 383's had the 2 bbl cam, rated 330 vs 335 hp. :Twocents:

1969 was the last year for a turquoise engine at Chrysler

for 1970 they went to "Chrysler Blue" engine paint on all non-HP V8s

Any NON HP motor just Needs a better cam, dual exhaust and a 4 Barrel carb...... BAM, it's a HP engine

not my XP29N0G - it is orange with a Holley.

Also, mine is a factory 4 speed car and it did not come with air conditioning.

My brothers '69 has 383 4v, AC, 4 speed, 3.23s
Bought in the mid '80s.
All the research we did at the time said it was not the same as the Road Runner/Super Bee power plant.
Car had very smooth idle, still ran low 15s at the track.
Now in '70 I believe all N code engines got all the good parts, cam, valve springs, and windage tray.

In 69, a/c cars got the 330 horse version, not the 335 horse motor.

1970 applications were different. That's why Dan is specifically asking about '70 cars.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.
