The seller is also a member on here. There have been a few threads about it with the complete VIN listed. I will mention this thread to him.

People make mistakes.
I had no reason, nor motivation to re-stamp this block. Nor doI have a list of Charger 500 VINs.
This is as bought out of Alabama about 15 years ago.

That 'J' looks kinda funky but there's a maincap side bolt clearly shown, so it ain't no 440 lol... :scratchchin:

There are so many 'Experts' these days, some who were not even born when these cars were built, who question fonts, stampings, colors, finishes, parts usage dates etc, it makes me laugh. Unless you were in the factory, on the day of assembly, working the line, you are no expert. They were not assembling works of art at the time and tolerances, errors, quality control, and parts use were not anywhere near as refined as today. Bottom line is these old pieces of steel were not intended to exist, let alone scrutinized like they are today.

Just saying the registry needs to be updated, cowboy. Put your six shooter back in the holster  ::)

Its amazing indeed, a £750 option back in 1969 will double the value of your Mopar NOW!!! :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:
'J' the most valuable letter in the Mopar world... :scratchchin:

440 C500 $75,000.
Hemi C500 $150,000... :smilielol:

440 Daytona $200,000.
Hemi Daytona $950,000... :shruggy:

Maybe more than double in the right car? :coolgleamA:

Why jump to a change in registry?  Where did the original registry data come from?  Was it just an error in recording or is there a discrepancy in some other list?  Is motor documented as real?  Should it just be amended with a possible found motor?  Just curious.

69_500

I have had this motor in my database for over 10 years. The number in registry was incorrect. It's a Hemi car

I would argue that "R" would be the most valuable letter in the mopar world   :D

I'm not honestly surprised to see that.  "J" in that particular character space of the VIN would have been a rarely-used character on the tool / fixture (heard it referred to as a pneumatic "burp gun", where the individual available characters were rotated to the desired setting similar to what you see with an ink-style date stamp) which the Assembly Plants used to stamp the VINs.  Comparatively-speaking, that character would have much less wear - and as a result, would produce a deeper stamp when the same amount of force is applied across all the characters.
