When you have a build date on a fender tag what day is this ?

Is it the day the car roles off the line all done ?

The date they start to weld parts together and get some paint on them ?

How long did it take a Charger ( 68 69 70) to go through the assembly line from start to finish ?

The build date on the fender tag is the "scheduled" build date...actual date could be a couple of days on either side of that. Later vehicles have the build completion date on the door decal.

I, too, have wondered how long the car was actually on the assembly line...probably only a day depending on how late in a shift the assembly was started.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

It is the SPD (Scheduled Production Date) which is the date they hoped to build the car, the date was assigned when the order was entered into the system.

This is one reason we see cars with a different month on the door stickers at times, some cars were build ahead of &  /or after the month their SPD shows, actual build months were recorded on the stickers.

Actual build dates were not recorded until later on, when the stickers had a MDH code (Month, Day, Hour) of completion.

Final assembly (frame complete, then body, driveline, and interior) probably one day (?), but how long did it take factory paint to dry?  Seems that they painted somewhere in the middle of assembly.  Do not our Mopars show lots of overspray on parts?

Anyone know the timeline involved?
