Would it be the 6qt #854 or the 5qt #402? I was thinking somebody told me they changed the pan in 70 to the #854 but can't remember.

854 is correct for a 440 HP in a '70 B-body.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Is that the same as the 6 quart HEMI pan ?

I need to get a pan for my 70 440 hp. It was crushed from previous owner...My research says in uses a a 2951564 pan. It also says there in no # stamped on it. I found this chart and I can't find the 854 pan listed...

Thanks for your comments....just want to get the right pan for this build.

The 854 is usually listed as a '72 part but it's identical to the '70-'71 440HP and Hemi pan.

Anyone have a pic of an "original" pick-up for the 440(3/8")with a hemi pan?

Is the 440 pick-up for that pan used as OE with any other pan?

John, is there a typo on this chart? This is no "854" listed anywhere..

Thanks for the pics!!

I always assumed the "correct" 3/8" tube for the hemi pan would be a long straight one, since that's how the 1/2" hemi tubes are.
However, when customers have supplied me with repro hemi pans and "matching" 3/8" pick-ups they were always of the dog-leg variety, which never really ended up in the right place in the sump.

Does anyone know a source and part number to get that correct straight style 3/8" tube for the hemi pans?
I'm assuming it's a longer tube than the straight one used with the non-hp pans.

How about a measurement from the bend to where the threads start on the tube?

The actual P/N for the 854 pan is 3671856. It's not uncommon to have a couple of digit difference between the part number and the stamped number.
