Can I control Firecore RTR timing with Fitech EFI?

I have the Ready to run Firecore system with the ecu built into the distributor. Can I have a Fitech unit control the timing? I'll be getting the Go EFI 4 600 HP, non-power adder.

According to Fitech website, yes. With some restrictions, there is a note at the bottom that says it must have a 2 wire distributor. Not sure how many the Firecore dist. has?

My bad, didn't mention this. I knew it had timing control but I wasn't sure you could do it with the RTR because it has the ECU built into the distributor. As I understood, the Fitech unit's ECU controls the timing so I figured it either needs to override the Firecore's ECU or I need another distributor or something. I thought I'd ask here before contacting Fitech.

I'm not sure how many wires this thing has, it's been a while since I played with it.

There's a Firecore distributor meant to be run with an MSD or other electronic control box so I'd think you would need that one. Otherwise your computers will be fighting. One thing to note with the Fitech - while it does control timing the maps are very limited (like 3x3 I think). I have the second one from the right and I can't remember what that little asterisk means. I can verify by looking in the manual but I'm pretty sure I saw the specs on their site before I got mine.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

The little asterisk just says it must be a 2 wire distributor.

Dino

Yeah I don't get the whole map thing... I'll look for a tutorial.

I could use the system as is and swap out a distributor at any time I suppose so no real loss there. Would I still need a CD coil if I swap the distributor? I have the mini coil now but want to get the stock looking one to bolt onto the intake manifold.

I can't speak for that specific distributor Dino, but here's a very informative thread I found on this subject.
