Hey guys second post here and was wondering if it is possible to mount a 1972 charger front end k frame onto a 1973 charger.
I plan on taking out tje whole k frame and redoing it so was wondering if it would be easier to just switch it out with a 1972 front end.
Thank you guys and i hope you all had a great Thanksgiving :yesnod:

71 and 72 are the same K frame set up
73 and 74 are not the same as 71 72 so no you will not be able to just bolt it in

Okay that's what I thought. How much modifications would I need to put a 1972 k frame inside a 1973 body?

How handy are you with a Sawzall and a Mig Welder?

ok, my first question is... WHY?

73 and laters are a big improovement over earliers.

As Nacho would have guessed, I disagree.  The 71-72 3rd Gen Bodies were the end of collector Chargers.
Buy a 71-72 and your money will be well spent.  :Twocents:

Personal opinion, Nacho.  The 73 and later models may have rode softer and quieter but this was certainly at the expense of steering precision and performance.

1-I'm not talking about the car, but the front end quality.

2-if the deal is just the isolators, get poly or solid and done, still the 73 and laters front clip is a big improvement over earliers.

73-up is softer.  72-down is tighter.

If you like soft, get a 73-up car.  If you like tight, get a 72-down car.

You can put solid K-frame bushings in a 73-up to tighten it up.

Not sure how easy it would be. It would depend on if the mounting holes in the stub frame are compatable or easily adaptable. I have a 73 and a 70 (same k frame/suspension as 70) in my garage. As Natcho mentioned the 73 k frame appears stronger, more like a C body car. The 73 and up uses different control arms. You can set more caster on the 73 than the earlier design  which helps handling. 72 and 73 use different lenght t bars. The 73 and up are longer and are anchored in a separate crossmember. I am not sure how that part of the swap would work. 72 has a differnent steering box than a 73 ,may be issues.

If you do this post some side by side pictures please.

once again, no sense. keep the 73 and upgrade whichever you want of it... unless you want to install some magnumforce K member or HiPo aftermarket system, stock vs stock, 73 and lates is way better.

WAY stronger. No affectation over frame rails/unybody with road defects. Every irregularity is JUST over the K member structure. So Unybody saved!
more adjusting play to play with it as mentioned
better engine mounts
no sway bar links, so less play on bending pieces here and there. They attach STRAIGHT to the strut rod
I never have seen a destroyed later LCA like I have seen earliers needing rebuilding jobs
more eficient on every way you want to see.

want it tighter? replace rubber mounts ( IMHO with poly, no solid ) and done.

the ONLY problem I see on 73 and lates, is the lack of aftermarket  HiPo pieces available.

shocks would be my main concern ( and it is ). Never could get Monotube shocks ( without mods ) for them on a nice price so had to get KYB GR2s/Excels pieces.

My dream is some day the RCD ( Bilstein ) shocks. But can't afford them yet. Also tuffstuff 100 amps alt... those are the 2 items I still own to my car.

why precission and performance ? due the isolators? nice, replace them and done!

why get a 72 stock system ? because more HiPo pieces available ? so then the pre 72s are not that nice if need to upgrade with HiPo aftermarket pieces LOL

actually I likes better the 73 and lates K member look
