Tie rod orientation - left and right thread

I have a complete front end link.. lower ball joint to lower ball joint from my old '69 Fury II and the entire system out of my 'Bee on the floor as well. The C body has right hand thread tie rods as both outers.. left hand thread as innners. My 'Bee has one side left outer, right inner and the other side right outer and left inner. I guess this way both adjuster sleeves turn the same way to shorten the link.

What is the correct location of the left hand and right hand thread tie rod ends???

THANKS!

Pretty sure my original 66 Charger has the right hand threaded ends on the outside....I can double check tomorrow if you want

Would be much appreciated if you don't mind! No rush.. I'm on the road tomorrow to check on my car shell and pick up some aircraft parts, so won't be assembling until Wednesday.

Found an article with left hand inners and right hand outers. Appreciate if you can confirm on your survivor. THANKS!

I checked my 66, the inners are right hand and the outers are left hand.....I can still see the OE part number on the inner tie rod ends

John_Kunkel

Left hand inners and right hand outers is correct. (Note that most standard rebuild kits include only the outer RH thread ends)
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks guys... so John says it's like I read and also the way my 69 C body links are set up and A383 says his survivor is the other way around.  :scratchchin:

I have a complete kit.. inners and outers, left and right threads.

Problem with survivors is, unless you took possession of the car right off the assembly line and it's been in your possession ever since, you can't know what's been done to the car in your absence. Then, of course, there's always the car assembled by a guy with a hangover on Monday morning.  :icon_smile_big:

All the tie rod ends on my car still have the Mopar part numbers, still have the OE castle nuts as well.....so with mine having the left hand rods on the outside, I might have to agree with the hangover on a Monday morning...

And, the car was built Monday, May 2nd, 1966....so there might be some truth to what you say
