I ordered my bumblebee stripe from a vendor on ebay and they are asking me if the stripe should be flat (Matte finish) or glossy?

My car had one before, it wasn't an original R/T so not sure its a good reference, but it seemed to be Matte finish.

How did it come from the factory?

They were painted on at the factory with Organosol black, which is a textured paint, that had a matte type finish. I don't know if they had a gloss finish for an option??? some of the guru's here would know for sure. End of the day what do you like the best?

I stand corrected thought they were painted. The difference between matte and satin are hard to define when speaking of the visual difference. Matte is a paint term referring to a dull or flat black while Satin is actually a textile term that refers to a glossy surface material like silk with a dull black color. The two have been used interchangeably over the years so it causes confusion. Anywho the sales guy asking you if you want matte or gloss is probably referring to (satin)matte or gloss.

In paint shops satin is the midway point between mat and gloss......which I think is how most people use the word.....and what I think CDR meant!

Thanks again for your feedback

I ordered what they call flat as the choices were glossy or flat.  Looks like a good quality decal branded 3M on the paper.

The ebay seller had excellent feedback and i searched for people who got the same decal.

These pics are not the best but do they look close to what they should be?

Just some food for thought here...Regardless of flat or glossy one pain about vinyl stripes is you have to be super careful when waxing car otherwise the wax gets absorbed in the tape looks yucky. On my '72 I have to wax carefully then hit all my tape areas with armor allĀ®...remember, it's vinyl!

OK well on my '70 we installed my 500 stripe between the base and clear coats, hit it with some steel wool to ruff it up and shot clear over it. Looks awesome, just wax right over it and after 13 years still looks the same as the day it was installed. Not factory but VERY nice looking and labor saving!!!
