What is the correct colour of the centre section on a 68  8.75 rear end? Anyone know the paint code?

I know most will say black, but when I stripped mine down all I saw was the color of rust. Even gently scraping the inspection marks underneath  I did not see a trace of paint on it.  So, I went with natural.  I did prime it with DP90 primer and topcoated it with Eastwood Spray Grey to prevent rust.

They were not painted.. bare cast to rust. I have coated mine with 80W90 oil, but it already started to spot rust again sitting in the shop over the Summer. Guess I'll be re-media blasting and coating in RPM or "twinkle dinkle" silver paint like I did my leaf springs.
