Connector - Heater/AC Box Vacuum lines

Do the vacuum lines pull out of the connector?  
I want to replace the tubes.
I don't want to break anything.

There are 7 tubes and the one that goes through the firewall is stiff near the connector and rigid at the firewall.  Is that tube a special tube, not like the other 6?

Did you just clean-up the original tubes?
Did you some how replace the stiff tube?
I could splice in a fresh tube a few inches from the connector for that stiff tube, assuming it doesn't restrict the flow much?
