What I have:

71 Road Runner (factory 383 car)
1975 (late 74 casting) motorhome 440

If I understand correctly, the stock motorhome/truck pan won't work for my application.

I found a 402 pan, will this do the trick?

XH29N0G

See if someone can confirm, but by this page http://www.440source.com/oilpans.htm it looks to me like it would fit as the correct part. pn 253240 is what they say.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Will it work - Yes

The 402 oil pan would have been factory correct for the 1971 383 Magnum and your car

It will fit the 440 no problems

Bigger question , the 402 oil pan requires a very hard to find and special oil pick up tube - Make sure you get the correct part number if buying reproduction

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to answer.

Brewer's shows one for the 402:
http://www.brewersperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=P4529564

Of course, it's out of stock...

Shows as part # P4529564. Googled it, found Amazon lists it:
https://www.amazon.com/Mopar-P4529564-Pickup-Screen-Assembly/dp/B003TQ2UWI

However, it's listed as being for a 6 qt pan, and Classic Industries lists the 402 as a 5 quart pan?

4 quart pan actually , 1 in the oil filter for a total of five quarts on the 383 magnum

I don't know what that 440 motor home oil pan holds for quarts oil in relation to the dipstick also

That might bee another issue using the 402 oil pan on that 440 , dipstick tube and length

One more thing I forgot , verify the thread size on the block / pickup tube for that 440 engine also , make sure it's 3/8"

383 Magnum block pickup tube is 3/8" for the 402 oil pan

Anyways

Mancini Racing - Same part number you posted , it says it fits the B Engine 383/400 , six quart also , must bee a misprint ???
