High gas prices Good for the economy??

I alway watch the news when I eat breakfast. This morning FOX was reporting that some economists say that the high gas prices help boost oil stocks which help the stock market. Also it will curb comsumer spending so it will keep inflation down so the Feds don't have to raise interest rates

At times I'm not the brightest bulb on the block but this seems like ass backwards thinking. Higher fuel prices= high delivery costs, which are passed along to the consumer, which means higher inflation so the Feds will raise the interest rates.
Maybe these economists work for the oil companies. Or am I missing something

Before you go dismissing them as "wrong" and claiming that you're right, stop to think that maybe it works both ways.  You could be both right, although the theory of cost-push inflation has been widely disproven.  The extent to which either one of you is "more right" as far as benefit and cost (i.e. higher consumer costs vs. stock market and interest rate) depends entirely on the personal situation of the person who is looking at the issue.

Also, be aware that the government is the biggest winner as far as high oil prices go.  As "obscene" as profits may be (I don't think there's such a thing as obscene profit), you ought to know that the oil companies have never, not once, paid less in taxes than they took home in profit.  If that's the only reason why government won't step in to regulate, I'm fine with that, even though the reasons not to regulate are so overwhelmingly good anyway.

I can see the agrument mad by the guys on the news, but with the cost of Diesel also going up pushing the cost of everythign up (due to shipping), i just don't see how that can help at all. i just don't see the effects decribed on the news counteracting the fact that prices will be going up.

  Yup.      So, hmm, we can help the economy by raising prices, why don't they just double the prices on everything,, and the economy will be 100% improved.     

  Other things on Fox news,      the war in Iraq has nothing to do with oil.       George Bush is the environmental president.    The more money that is concentrated into the upper one percent of the people will just mean more money that trickles down to poor people.     
  How about:   tax breaks for the wealthy means the rich can then afford to buy five yachts instead of four, and this helps boat building companies that employ working class people.   stuff like that,  I don't know.

  hehe,     hey,  Democrat, isn't like I said facsist or dictator.   

      We are in Iraq because we just care about the poor Iraqi people so much.   Saddam was gone a long time ago.   Maybe if we just cared about "people" so much, we could spend some of that 500 or 600 billion dollars, . .. so far that much . . .  on all the dying and starving people in Africa?  for example.   
   If there was oil in Africa, we would be in Samalia saying how bad the warlords are and how we care so much about the people of Samalia and how we just want to help them,  or the aids problem in Africa would be on the news every day and how bad it is and how much we gotta help them.     Don't you think that is what our government would do if there was a lot of oil there?  And the story would be on Fox news every day.     I don't have a problem with us securing resources for our country, or getting rid of a Saddam type person,   I'm just saying is all.

Yeah, I also watch FOX news as well instead of the Clinton News Network (CNN). Careful what some of you wish for, if the Socialist party gets back in (Read Democrat) like say, Hillary, we may as well get rid of these Mopars and pedal bicycles as that is what her, Michael Moore, George Clooney, and the rest of the Socialists would have us do. They look at our hobby as one of the problems, old gass guzzling cars. Sorry bout the vent, but I put a sign out in the yard every 4 years during election time that reads, "Dogs and Democrats keep off Grass!"
