I just pulled my dash pad from my parts car today and it is in great shape overall.  I need to dye it black but first I would like to clean it really well and maybe soften up the vinyl a bit.  What is the proper way to go about doing this?  I know there are already threads on dying the vinyl, so I shouldnt need any help with that part yet...  I just need to know what to use to clean it and how to soften it up.  I dont want to use anything that will prevent the vinyl dye from working properly.

If you can find an SEM dealer in your area they will help you with all the advice and products you'll need to make it work.

Nice pad!  You're right that it could use a good cleaning, but it's intact, and that's a big bonus for 3rd gens :P

why not try to sell and get a black one ? since is weird to get a pad like that in that color and conditions and blacks are more easy... maybe you can get some extra money ;) and somebody could need that pad untouched.

just an idea...

Because I know how things get handled in the mail and dont want to end up with a cracked pad.  Im just playing it safe, I have one thats good in my hands and dont want to take any chances just to save a few bucks.  Not worth it to me.  Now if someone wants to hand deliver me a perfect black pad for trade...   :yesnod:

Really I think it needs dyed anyway as dirty as it is.

I think I can find someone here hehehe.... a firend of mine has A PERFECT black dash pad down here... trust me when I say is PERFECT... soft and everything. Only detail doesn't have the insert hole to the seatbelt and map ligh plate. I didn't make an offer when I needed because doesn't have that insert hole. DAMN... IS A SHAME ON THAT, because I really wanted to keep that plate

He has two Chargers ( had a third one but crashed badly so he parted out that's the source of the dash pad ) and one of them is Tan interior completely cracked and dried. He has storaged the black one to change for the tan one someday in the future... if you want I can tell him.

Id like to exchange but not sure if I would want to risk the shipping or not.  You can see what he thinks of the idea.
