I am trying to determine the total length of the steering column shaft on my 68 Charger with p/s and manual transmission.  Does anyone have one torn down?

There are two different lengths, are there not?

I know that on my '70 Satty "Birdible" project, I had to locate a shorter section of steering shaft when swapping from power to manual steering.  If you don't get a definitive answer, I'll go dig the two shafts up and measure them.

As I understand,  there are 2 different lengths for p/s and manual.  I need the p/s length.  I am  reassembling the column and sheared the plastic plugs. Once I get the measurement I'll use an epoxy to set the correct length.

If you glue it together do not stick it too good
It was made to collapse in case you were in a car accident to help keep the steering column out of your ribs

Not sure what would happen if you did not glue it but just put it together
Where is it going to go ?

I thought about that 70 sublime.  Sometimes I am my own worst enemy.  I spend more time trying to get  things exactly as they were from the factory.
Curiosity is killing me now.

Your in luck. I converting from manual to power steering. I'm alot older & wiser since I purchase my R/T Hemi 4 spd in 1972. Not going to wrestle that elephant under the hood anymore. I got my intermediate shaft out of South Dakota. Anyhow, it measures 41.25" without the coupler attach.

I hope this helps.

Thanks 62nwhite. That is what I needed.
