Hi

Over this weekend I will investigating to see why my shift lever (pistol grip) is so "sloppy" and not engaging into gear well.
I understand the gear selector rod adjustment, but not sure how to fix the shifter "slop".
Is the shifter adjustable or do I need to have it rebuilt or replaced?

many thanks
Gary

Need to determine where the slop is. Alot of times the plastic bushings in the shift rods are shot. I always run the brass ones on mine.

Is your shifter still stock? Meaning that the handle slips into the shifter or has it been drilled and bolted?

Is the slop in the handle where it plugs into the shifter or in the shifter itself? Crawl under the car and have somebody work the shifter, look for any lost motion.

Factory shifters have no bushings but the aftermarket ones often do...look for missing bushings.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
