Hi guys,
I'm looking at buying a rolling chassis of a roadrunner if the price is right. My question is: is it worth the trouble? The body is in decent shape and I'm going to offer 500...  Has front suspension, and an 8 3/4 under it. Bumpers as well! The big hang-up is it has NO vin number...

is there a title ?   fender tag ?   what year is it ?

IF its a 69 or later body  , with  a title  & the correct numbers stamped  in the locations mentioned above  , & its just missing the dash , you could get a vin plate made ,  also  something to think about  , if the car has been parted out / parked & the previous guy started to sell stuff ,  someone could of used  the vin , on a stolen car or  built a clone  etc

if its a 68 & no title  & no fender tag , there is no way of knowing , what the  vin is , because  in 68  it was the order number stamped on the body ...

There is no title, and the trunk, hood, and doors are tack welded shut :(. It's at a scrap yard and I'm assuming it was supposed to get crushed and they just paid them out its weight and kept it. It's a '69, but I haven't been able to get off work to go see it during business hours.

Let's say, worst case scenario, is that all numbers are missing. Would it still be worth anything? At least as a drag car, or parts car? I'd rather part it out than see it crushed...

yeah I can see what your saying  , seems a shame to let it go to the crusher ,  but what if its a stolen car ! ..... with the price of whats being asked on  anything mopar muscle even piles of shrapnel on ebay  today   , why is it  even in there , could see it happening in the 70s / early  80s /mid 80s  , not 2016  :scratchchin:

yeah that's what i'm thinking  :yesnod:

maybe it was stolen long ago , & there is no why of tracing  whos it was or proving what car it was etc ,  , but  what if ......

even if the trunk & doors are welded shut  ,  see if you can crawl through to the trunk or look through the tail lamp opening , to see the underside of the trunk gutter ,  9 times out of ten , the vin stamping is visible from the underside , all be it in reverse ......

Make it into a race car, or apply for a salvage title and get a new vin.

Kern Dog

The VIN should be visible through the windshield.
Regardless, even at $500, I'd do it. What if you did a search and found the prior owner? If I got a call about a car that was stolen from me, I'd be willing to pay $500 to get it back.

I agree. I'm still interested in it, that's for sure. Right now I'm lookin to get a RV 440, but I should have it on Friday. I am going to have to take a day off work to go get a real good look at the car.
