How about a 29 trailer road train

http://blogunity.net/vehicles/record-longest-road-train/
CAUTION: this truck makes wide turns! :2thumbs:
Edit: Funny...I typed this and 30 minutes later a semi takes a turn to short and drives over the right front side of my Kenworth! :slap:

In the video, some of those road trains were moving at a good clip.  Must be some monster engines in the truck to get them up to speed!!  500 HP doesn't sound like enough.

Turbo diesels make huge amounts of torque.

yea, but immigrating there is almost impossible so I don't see you getting out of that pickle anytime soon.

Seeing them on the road just made me nervous.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

When I had a CDL, I subscribed to a couple of trucking pubs. One had an article about an Aussie road train driver who made a regular haul to a remote mine and the road had a steep hill that required him to keep moving; predictably, one day he had to stop on the hill and, while trying to get rolling again, the truck started wheel hopping (every trucker's been there) and the torque snapped the transmission output shaft.

Road train on a hill with a busted truck....hmmm.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

And it's not like he could.....back down......could he? :rotz:

It's absolutely amazing just how much even a double frame will flex during wheel hop. Personally.......a shattered rear differential the one time I didn't clutch it in time.

I can only imagine how long it takes to get up to speed......and  :o on how long to stop one.

Edit-thinking on this a bit.....if each axle has brakes......stopping could be pretty impressive. Wouldn't mind driving one...... :yesnod:

Why is it almost impossible?

Because the only way you can immigrate to Australia is to either marry into it, or you have a skill so unique the national government is willing to let you in. Otherwise, all you get is a temporary work visa with the expectation you get the heck out when its up.

so its as hard to get in here as it is to get into the US    ;)

Too bad the U.S. doesn't have the same policy.
