Question on leaf spring shakles

When the car is sitting on the ground what should the rear shackles look like? Mine seem to be resting on the frame?

No, they should not be resting on the frame. They should be about 30*-45* from vertical and angling towards the rear of the car.

If the main leaf is too short, they can swing forward and sit on the frame. If the main leaf is too long, they can swing too far rearward and sit on the frame. If you raised the car with a jack and the shackle snapped forward, you can use a large pry-bar to put them back over center and point rearward.

Ahh, I will try that. These have new poly bushings, just noticed the other day when I crawled underneath.
