Radiator no longer fits

I have the standard 26" 1970 radiator in my 69. I added the XV motorsports lower radiator support. Now the radiator will not fit in the car, it sits too high.
Any thoughts on either different radiators (not as tall) or ideas on maybe notching this rad support out?

How much to high does it sit? my guess is it's the bottom tank hitting the lip of the lower support, correct? if so, is it possible to just bend the metal down on the lower support to gain the clearance needed?

I think that is what is happening. He said it is a good inch to high. The support is tubular so it will probably need to be notched.

Hmm, sounds like notching the support then would be the easiest and least costly option. I would think finding a custom radiator to fit or having your current one shortened would cost more than just having the support notched? will there be any strength issues with modifying the support to work?

I wouldn't think so. It's the 3 inch tubular support so even if I notched that part it would still be more than what was there to begin with. Ill get pics tomorrow hopefully. He is reluctant to start modifying things.

I'm pretty positive that's stated in the instructions... ;)

They even make an extended version to hang below the stock radiator (or at least someone does).

It was designed for a side tank radiator.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Oh shit. Not sure how that was missed.     :brickwall:
