Hi,  :brickwall: I got a 76 Cordoba with a 400, the car did not come with a lean burn system, had a 2 bbl, put in a Elderbrock intake with a Elderbrock 600 CFM electric choke. It as a dual Exhauth with hemi mufflers, NEW Parts are wires, fuel pump, fuel filter, Electronic ignition, orange box, new distributor, electronic box,, plugs are Champions, rad as been rebuilt, does not overheat even in traffic, got the carb rebuit last year but it always hesitated on take off, got bigger jets put into it, different metering rods and springs, the hesitation stop for a the first 3 or 4 cold starting drive, Now it idel very rough, got to keep my foot on the gas pedal, with the brake son at  a street light, the car sakes, but once I get going it runs great, no power lost, no overheating, I was doing 80 MPH, in 33 Celsius, for a hour, no heating problems, or hesitations. I use 91 octane from Petro Canada, had the car for 4 years now. 3 years with this setup. what would cause this. Thanks for your help.. Sly

So what I read (correct me if I am wrong) is that after the carb rebuild, the engine ran OK for 3 or 4 times out and then started to idle roughly and wanted to die.
Don't know what it could be, but I would check to see if the timing is still set OK, and then go through checking the idle mixture and idle speed using a vacuum gauge.  I have not worked with Edelbrock carburetors so don't know the specifics, but someone here will be able to help with more specifics.

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

sounds like a vacuum leak to me.   :scratchchin:

I concur...or stuck float.  tap the carb a few times lightly with a rubber mallet or comparable

Not so far, floats are not stuck, took the top off the crab, no dirt, floats are ok, I got new wires, but I'm thinking that may the problem, got a bad one.
