I have an a.c. car but it doesn't work. No big deal but the belt runs across it and I think the bearing inside is bad. How do I open it to replace it so the grinding noise goes away. Thanks

I got it off after reading an old thread but now I need to know where to get the new bearing. Hopefully the compressor isn't locked up

Hi,

The bearing should be Four Seasons # 25205 and Rock Auto has them. They are a bit pricey though, at $59 you can get the whole remanufactured compressor with clutch assembly for $134. The bearings also turn up on Ebay from time to time. As I recall, these bearings are an odd ball size and there was only one Japanese source.

The shop manual will tell you how to press the old one out and new one in. I've done it and it is fairly easy.
