I was talking to his wife, Barb and asked if some cards, letters and photos from the wing car crowd would cheer him up.
She said, "Sure!!"   She visits him in the nursing home 4-5 times a week.  I sent him a letter with a few photos of my cars progress.  It was much appreciated.

(If you weren't aware, George is suffering from Parkinson's and dementia.)

George was with Chrysler from the early 60s until 1971, a little after the Race Group was disbanded
and the stock car support drastically cut.

Over the years, many of you have had a chance to listen to his stories from the "Good Old Days".

Thanks.

Yes,  George IS the man.   His son wrote a great story about him.   I will look for that on the web.  Great father too.     Thanks for the heads up.  :2thumbs:    Will pass along the info.

I don't know how to copy and past websites (sorry) but if you copy and past in Google the below, it's a good read about George senior from his son.

Wow, I hadent heard that George's health was deteriorating. I have had the pleasure of talking with him and hearing his stories on a few occasions and am always awed by the things he did, and also some of the stories told ABOUT him!
Here is a pic of George and I taken in Talladega in 2004, He was always more than approachable and would tell stories as long as you cared to listen, an all-around great guy!

Had the pleasure of sharing time with George when we all went to the Ford Museum in Michigan some years back.  He's a wealth of knowledge - not just about our cars but so much more.  He truly made my visit to the museum memorable...AND educational!   :2thumbs:

Godspeed George, a truly understated hero, with the guts to collect data while clinging to a roll cage at 200 mph.

George was a wonderful man who spent time with us sharing his stories and knowledge.   He had a memory that was unequaled and a real stickler for details.     My understanding is that his Parkinsons had left him incapacitated for some time.    I have missed him for several years already.

When asked about George, Richard Petty said,  "That man is a walking computer."         George was a really nice guy.

I'll always cherish the memories of the times George came over to visit...

RIP, my friend.

RIP Mr. Wallace.  There are so many things we can (or think we can) control, but time is not one of them....

RIP, Mr. Wallace.

Your accomplishments with slide rule, pencil and paper rival those of stock car racing "household names", such as Petty, Isaac and Baker.

It was an honor knowing you.
