To remove undercoating or not?

Hi Guys,

Have not posted in awhile.

I am going to paint my R6 69 RT. The car is rust free best I can see and tell. Local SC/NC car with factory undercoating. This car is going to be a nice driver, with new interior, paint, chrome etc. Engine and tranny are fresh, but everything else under the hood will be new. Question is do I remove the undercoating the factory applied or just roll with the factory UC as is.

In my opinion,  if it's not flaking off anywhere and you know that there is no rust underneath... leave it be.

Agree, now is not the time.  Maybe later if you do a full strip down.  Now, just chip off  any loose stuff, recoat and go.

  Removing all undercoating is a LONG process, so if you are sure it is solid just knocking off what you can, spot shoot it with 3M undercoating in a can and you are good to go!

Thanks guys. My painter suggested to leave it alone. I think I will leave it be.
