I don't believe I've posted this already. It's the Plymouth Technical Service Bulletin #70-23-6.

Cool - I wonder how many customers asked their dealer to do this....

PettyMower

Every time they washed their car, they at least thought about it.  LOL

You're welcome!

Of course, you Dodge guys didn't have to worry about this.  LOL

Since we're now on this topic, thoughts?

I've heard these were nixed on Superbirds after headaches for Daytona owners - is that true, or was it something else?  Factory laziness?  Pointless for street cars?  Rust or dirt issues?

Any point to cutting holes in the fenders for a vehicle that never sees ridiculous speeds or inclement weather...other than shutting up the car show "experts" claiming it's a fake because there's no fender hole?

PettyMower

I think that I read somewhere that the hole was left out to save both time and cost. Which completely makes sense.

Saw the bulletin before never knew of any car that comitted to a hole that big on the street

The unspoken reason for the bulletin was CYA in case NASCAR called them on the fact that the street cars did not have the hole as used by the race cars.

Is there a measurement drawing of where the scoops are located?

Hemi Runner

I've seen that posted before but didn't save it. I do have a tracing off an original bird fender that I can get measurements off of if the drawing photos don't get posted again.

There's nothing in the instructions about touching up the bare metal afterward. Rust magnet!

Someone cut the holes in my bird fenders at some point.  Tom, the previous owner, welded them back up.  Thank you Tom.  I drive it in the rain occasionally.

Out of curiosity, was the hole cut in the same shape as the Chrysler Bulletin? If so, it may have been done at the dealer.
