Computer Guys - Video Compression tool, got a good one?

I do some recording of videos (music videos mostly, some extremely hard to find movies) on YouTube, but the program I use saves the videos as big files. Is there a tool out there that I can download that will compress them into a smaller files for saving onto dvd-rom or cd-rom? That way I can get more on a disk then I currently am.

Why don't you just download the YouTube video? It's already compressed. If you use Firefox or Chrome browsers there are addons that will give you the ability to do it.

I also want one for old dvd's/cd-roms that I have from a few years ago, that only got 2 or 3 videos on them. It will consolidate my video collection to a lot fewer disks.

As far as using other browsers, I'll never use Chrome ever again. I got more viruses using it then ever. That was even with 2 malware apps they got for it. And I use a media converter for short video clips. I also download almost all of my music not from YouTube using a media converter that is online, and free. And before someone thinks of saying it.... NO, I do not surf for porn to download

Hmm, not sure, I have only copied DVDs with it.
I use another program to convert my phone MP4s though.
