I'm thinking of restoring my '68 leaf springs on my '68 Hemi Charger R/T and was curious if someone knows for sure what the OEM finish of them are. My initial thoughts are the actual springs segments were left natural metal, no painting. I see Roger Gibson sells the wrap-clamps and plastic spring spacers, so I was going to give it a shot..... I was going to coat the springs with a protective clear.

The original ones could have been a semi flat black or left natural steel.  I chose to paint mine natural steel color to prevent rusting.  The straps that Gibson sells should be a zinc (bright silver) coating if I remember  correctly.  The black spacers are made of black plastic which are unpainted.
