Is anybody running a 275 60 r15 tire on a magnum 500 15x7 rim?
I'm ordering a set of tires for my car and I want to be sure that a 15 x 7 will fit on a 275 for the back . The guy at the shop was saying that I need at least 15x7 1/2 rim

The shop is right. It will mount up, but the tire shop may not do it for you or provide waranty.

When I bought my first pair of 275/60-15 Radial T/A's, the B.F. Goodrich chart showed a minimum rim width of 7" and I ran them on 15x7 wheels for years with no problems. The company has since revised their chart to call for a minimum rim width of 7.5".

It can be done but will require you do some work to establish the pressure that best creates full contact. Otherwise, you may encounter whats called 2nd rib wear.

Been running 15x7's on rallye rims since 1986, no problems.

Some tire companies say it's the minimum, some want wider.  I've used that combo, with 19psi, and still wore in the center.

Can it be done? Sure, you can also mount them on a 5" wheel. But why? You are putting an almost 11" wide tire on a 7 inch wheel.

I would not put a 275/60 on anything less than an 8" wheel. If you already have the wheels I would go with a different tire. 235/70 would be just as tall as a 275/60 and fit the 7" wheel a little better.
