Funny everybody says do not buy a car without a title and now this car is at 20k without the title?I have looked it up and in Pennsylvania it's so easy to get a title just fill out a form pay $51 and that's it!Told this to the seller and that I'd be interested in his car but no response! Why people can't be bothered to get a title if it's really that easy, unless something fishy is going on!?

because they want you to buy it....they know something you don't and wont share it.

Some guy keeps bugging me on facebook to buy his road runner which is a drag car so no headlights no nothing for the streets and NO TITLE!!  Wants something like 15k I told him its worth max 5k due to no title and not street legal.....I figure I offened him, but he keeps coming back begging me, 'specifically' to buy his car.  I told him I would advertise it for him on facebook, but he saids NO he wants to sell it to me ONLY.

goes to show you how weird people are....

I bet i won't stop under 25k!

There is this other '68 r/t but it's an auto, running driving and the seller is asking $38k!!!! :brickwall: Wft? But i guess if someone pays that then he will be happy as Larry and if can't sell just put it back on ebay with lower reserve! He's got nothing to loose!

I think the red one has got an advantage being a 4spd car. I would hope the Dana is still there.

Mytur Binsdirti

I'd take the gold a/c car over the red car as it's more complete

But 23 large for a complete resto project just doesn't make economic sense.

I can't imagine buying a car without a title.

There is a good reason he is selling the car without a title. He would have to get it registered in his name and that, my friend, lines you right up for legal action. Now the fool is someone who would buy a car for 20 grand or more and take a chance on losing it. The last car I titled like that cost me some legal work and some coin, but it is free and clear with the blessing of the state and the LEGAL OFFICIAL REGISTERED IN THE STATE OF TEXAS OFFICIAL OWNER. I don't have to look over my shoulder waiting for the legal owner to step up. There was someone's restored 70 Road Runner stolen at the nats this year. How would like to buy that car for 20g's and then someone come up and claim it. Guess what? You are out 20 large and YOU have to go after the guy you bought it from.

cavemanno1

So Mark, when you sorted out the tutle for the above mentioned car how did you do it?You have bought the car and started the legal process or done it before buying it?
If it's the last one how could you get a title in Your namw while the car belonged to other people technickly?
It's a bit foggy for me!
I know you told me you could get a title for any car but surely after they are in your posession otherwise if there is something illegal with the car you would loose it!But if you get a title for it before you actully payed for it then you could just turn up at the seller or the present owners place and claim the car because legally it's yours! Now tgat is tge part where it gets confusing!
I hope you can understand what i'm trying to say here!

Thanks,

Peter

Fortunately for me, I live in the great state of Texas and they are a titled state and keep the records for a loooong time. They only purge the records  after many years of no activity on a vin number. If a car is listed as stolen or has a lien, then it is never purged from the system. Every time someone inquires on a vehicle, it keeps it in the system for another 10 or 20 years. However, every state has different laws. If that state does not keep records that long, then getting a title for an abandoned, lost title, car with a lien or stolen, could be easy. My point is simple. If the guy that is selling the car for $20,000 plus, he should be able to provide you with a title that says HE owns it. I would not take the chance. Lets say you hear of a car at a friend of a friends house. So you go over to "Bondo Billys " house and there you find a beat up dodge Coronet of very little value but it has a 4 speed in the trunk and good front fenders you need for your car. You want the car but he said he never got a title because the guy before him lost it or any number of reasons. So you buy the car for $500 and take it home. You take the parts off you want and stick it in the shed out back. If you want a legit title, then you have to go through with the paperwork to get it. Most people don't want to spend the time and money to that. The owners before you did not want to spend the time or money to legally transfer it into their name either. So the title gets lost and you get the picture. You can get a bonded title in Texas where the state sends letters to the legal owner of record and says if you have any interest in this car please contact us. If the car is off the state records, then they have no one to send the letter too and you get an easy title. If some owner way back responds, then it is a legal matter that you have to resolve, before you get a title. I have never had an owner yet respond to a state letter. After 3 years, no one can claim the car. That is the case with most cars without titles. For $500, most will take a chance on the car being legit and buy it. At any given time, however, the Texas Trooper could show up at your door and say this car was stolen, give it back. That is why I go through the legal means to get a title and if the legal owner wants it back, he can have it and I just lost $500. And yes I run the vin number before I buy it.
Now the same scenario and you pull up to "Big Bucks Billy's" house and he has a very nice Hemi Coronet in the shed with no title. He is asking less than market  value price of $15,0000 on the car. What do you do? Run away. Very fast. Actually I would ask for permission to get the vin and have it searched. Then he would insist that I run away fast.
Make him get a title first, for $20,000.

duckmanreno

I guess laws about titles vary a lot from state to state.

and there is that Inland shifter with the extra bend in it that I put in my 66 Charger....only issue is that you cannot open my console lid while in 4th gear, shifter handle is too long now....oh well

Troy

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

cavemanno1

I have sent two email to the seller about the title andthe second one i even linked the site how to get a title but no response! You would think if you wanna sell a car for that much you would make sure that more people are comfortable to bid on it because they know it's legit!

VegasCharger

What happened to the bidding? I could've sworn that I seen $23,000 as the highest bid? Did that bidder back out :shruggy:

looks like my red 68 r/t in the backyard, but mines an auto...same color combo
