The engine is pretty amazing considering the rest of it  :scratchchin:

Even with the optional wheels, it's apparently not that remarkable - its been for sale for quite awhile. It's a neat oddity to those of us who are jaded, but most people would rather have something else.

GOTWING

I bought a set of those rims in 1992 for $150.  :nana: amazing story, one day I took one of my 69 dealer brochures to our local Chrysler dealer Floyd Megee's and asked around, and the old service guy that had been there forever said, yeah I have a set of those at home.He left on lunch break and came back with them in the back of his pickup. I was in heaven. I kept them awhile for bragging rights, then ended up trading them even up for a nice 66 charger. :icon_smile_wink:

What's the deal with the recall wheels?
Every great legend has it's humble beginning.
Project 668:
1968 Dodge Charger (318 Car)
Projected Driveline:
383 with mild stroke
Carb intake w/Holley 750 VS

6-Speed Dodge Viper Transmission

Fully rebuilt Dana-60 w/Motive gears. 3.55 Posi, Yukon axles.

Finished in triple black.

ETA: "Some velvet morning, when I'm straight..."

GOTWING

they were a factory option in 69 however the lugnuts would loosen up and that's how they got the nickname "suicide rims" they were recalled by Chrysler but some are still out there today. They are also re popped today so you can buy a safe set.

Repops meet OEM specs??  Hmmm, I don't think so...  I'd like to see how they were re-engineered.  :Twocents:

The centers and trim rings are wrong on this car and those are the hardest parts to find!
The "C" body cars had most of the original Kelsey Hayes Cast Road wheels on them, not the B or A bodies.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?
