Hey MP-3 people I have a question: I got a lil MP-3 player for Christmas but when I went to Down load some songs from Walmart they down loaded in some wierd encripted format that will only play on the computer that downloaded it. So My question is where is a place to down load songs in standard windows type format so I can store them on my computer and move them on/off my lil' player.

Thanks

i-tunes does something like that.
if you down load I-tunes you can buy music wich saves in a funkey format.
you can then burn the music to a regular audio cd (to play in any cd player)
you then can 'rip' the files from the audio cd to the mp3 format..
yeah its a bit of work but you can use one program  (that is free) to do all the work.

I think the format is ACC format. Most pay for music is going to this format. The file somehow keeps track of how many times it been copy'd and can only be moved to so many computers before it goes dead.  You still then have to convert it to a MP3 format for most Mp3 players.   You buy from I tunes store I think the Itunes software does something and puts it on your Apple Ipod. I tunes a month or 2 ago didnt really have that good of a selection of songs and anything old wasnt on there and I doubt it will be on there.

Your only other way to do it would be to get software and make Mp3's out of your cd's you already own which is legal to do.  Napster and Limewire both are an excellent source for Mp3's but there are risks involved and fee's on napster now.
