Hey all. I just re-painted my 70 Rallye center caps and wanted to report on the paint I used. I did a lot of reading about the available options, which essentially are Roger Gibson's formulation (I don't have a spray gun), Totally Auto (no thanks - heard too many horror stories), Dupli-Color MX102 Silver Textured Metallic or Krylon Fusion Silver Textured Shimmer #2522. Eastwood's made a version as well but they have since discontinued it. I decided to go with the Dupli-Color option as I have had very good results with their paints in the past. Here are the results. The pictures on my washing machine are the closest to reality. They look a little blue in the "just been painted" pictures, and the installed pics were taken in a dark garage with shitty light. I followed some advice that I read to spray from a good distance and do some light dust coats first for better texture results. I sprayed from at least 2 feet away if not farther at times.

I have read that Dupli-Color's Graphite version of this paint is a good substitute for the 1971 darker color used on Rallye center caps, and 'Cuda grilles.

Looks good :2thumbs:  Been looking for different options on grille color.  This doesn't look all that bad.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Very nice!! For the next trick, do you know what paint brand / colour is on the main wheel? That's where mine need some attention...

That one's actually easy, because they still make it.   :2thumbs:

You could also try looking for alternatives from Eastwood or DupliColor but I don't know how close they are. Any shop that sells Mopar Restoration parts should be able to get the Mopar paint.

The Duplicolor paint is almost unobtainable in my area.  One store that sells the brand couldn't get it.  The other only had one can available.  $11 a can. :P
