Anyone watching Better call Saul, the Breaking Bad spinoff?     Ponch can I assume you are?   :icon_smile_big:

There's only been 5 episodes so far but this may turn out to be a show that can stand on its own.  Bob Odenkirk, the actor who plays Saul, is a joy to watch so I'm going to give this show a chance.   :yesnod:

I did give up on 12 monkeys after the 4th (I think) episode.  That one lost steam real quick, but I may pick it up again if it improves.

Yep! Been watching it and I'm sold on it. I think its biggest accomplishment so far is that one knows it is from the Breaking Bad universe but there is no urge compare it to that show because, as you said, its good on its own.

It does help to get you hooked if you watched BB and recognize some of the characters and references. It makes you want to watch even more because you want to see how they developed into the characters we saw in BB. Can't wait to watch the Mike-centric episode next week!

I too am watching.

I did not realize it was from Breaking Bad because I believe it or not, have never seen an episode of Breaking Bad...until last week!

Everyone I know has told me that I would love BB and they were right.  I think I finally decided to watch because of how much I liked BCS and heard somewhere that is was tied to BB.

I am "binge watching" BB now, started on the weekend and am now partway through season 3.

haha...I was a hold out for the longest time. Then I joined a hockey team and our name/uniforms were Breaking Bad themed....so I started watching it on Netflix to get "caught up" on the BB references, etc. Mrs. Ponch and I ended up binging on it for 3 weeks in November-December. I think we watched most of the last season in one day. Started at like 4 pm on a Friday afternoon and turned the Playstation off at 2:30 am Saturday.

it's a good thing that BCS is a prequel so you can watch them at the same time and you won't get any spoilers (as far as I can tell). Like I said earlier tho...if you haven't watched BB, you may miss on some priceless "Oh sh*t....it's THAT guy/girl/thing/place! [from BB]" moments.

Wifey and I did the same thing.  We bought the DVD set and binged.  I can't wait for the Mike-centric episode either.   :yesnod:

I'll watch any show that features an anti-hero.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I held out for a long time too on BB but watched the entire series within a couple of weeks around the end of december and beginning of january. Most likely the best tv show/series I have ever watched. BCS is pretty humorous for sure, I missed the last new episode but have watched them all so far and will catch up on it tomorrow nite. Mike is the man!! I'm still pissed at Walt for what he did to Mike in the BB series!!!!! My favorite line so far is Saul asking Mike "what you gonna do? You got a diaper full of poop you gonna throw at me???" LOL Nuttin but the best!!

Dino

I'm pissed at Walt for a whole lot of things, but the anti-Hollywood writing made it worth it.  Few shows can touch Breaking Bad.  Besides The Wire I can't really think of any.

Awesome show but doesn't quite go where The Wire goes.  That said, The Sopranos had some of the best TV moments ever.   :yesnod:

I've held out for longer..
A mate of mine loaded season 5 of BB on my new( then ) laptop last September and I hadn't watched it just cause I don't watch any tv really, but I have lots of time to kill in a hotel room so I only just watched it this week.
And yes, after the first episode I was binge watching it, pretty good storyline actually, fairly original and realistic characters. The guy playing Mike is good at what he does. And Bryan Cranston. Will look out for the earlier series now.

Actually, haven't really watched much tv since X files was on years ago, that was good. Just the odd Dr Who and the news is it really. Only watched maybe 15 minutes of tv in the hotel in the last 7 or so months, just seems like a waste of time to me with the amount of mindless garbage reality horseshit that passes for entertaining tv these days....would rather play guitar or head out somewhere

Funny you should mention X-Files - Vince Gilligan (The creator and writer for BB and Better Call Saul) was a writer on X-files.

Coincidence?  I think not.

Yep, watched all the BB series.  Outstanding show.
Watching Saul now, very happy with it ... season finale Monday night didn't disappoint.
I have stuck it out with 12 Monkeys as well but don't know if that one is going anywhere.  I was impressed that they did what they did with the movie plot but it has gone as far as it can go I think.
Mad men is the one I am trying to catch up on now. The show itself is great but the attention to detail has been awesome.  So far I've caught only one instance of (what looked like) a modular phone.  And ONCE they were playing records at a party and they showed a label "Eric Records" which is an oldies re-issue label and didn't exist until sometime in the 70's.
But cars are great, music is great and the plot(s) are fantastic. I am DVD-ing the last 7 episodes now. Can't wait to catch up and watch them.
