The fix required 2-1/2 inch long Grade 8 CSK flat top allen wrenching bolts (shown on page 3 of the sticky post).
I almost found the bolts at Lowes but the longest they had was 2 inches.
I know that some of you made the 2 inch bolts work but I would like to get the 2-1/2 length.
I tried the 2" length.

Question 1: Do you know a source for these bolts?

Question 2: Do you think Grade 5 would be acceptable?  Chart Below.

My post on page 3 first post shows what I used. They were metric measuring about 2 1/4" (equivalent) length. it's grade 8 and shows "Y" "D" and "10.9" on the head. One of these days I'll go back to Ace hardware and post the size.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

John, the grade 8 bolts are available so keep looking. :scope: You might have to order them from your local fastner supplier but it's worth the wait.  :yesnod:

Definitely use grade 8   :2thumbs:

I rarely find these things at the big box stores although I've had some luck at Ace.  The local mom and pop hardware store has most of this stuff though, got any of those around?

I have a torque chain on mine but would do this mod as well if I didn't.

Ok, on my last trip to Ace hardware, I remembered to get the bolt info. They're flat head socket screws M10 x 60mm  1.5 thread pitch.

Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....
