I just finished reassembling my tranny and getting it back running in the car.  I had removed it to replace the governor and the o-ring under the tail shaft that has leaked since I owned this transmission.  Tranny won't kick down, looked at the lokar cable for adjustment.  But, the lever looks too far back.  Any ideas what's going on there?

Here is a short video. http://youtu.be/48dEq__F3_0

Yep something is wrong ,
You will have to drop pan , I think you have cam linked to this outside of stop, you will see once you have pan off ,
As kick down cam should push on line pressure , as it looks its no where near putting any pressure on line pressure pistons ,
I've never seen that lever back so far out of position , sorry you still have work to do

And don't drive it until its right.

I'll do that. Hopefully I haven't messed anything up, I've put about 40 miles on her this week.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks for the suggestion John.  I took the kick down lever off, appeared to be a large E-clip attached.  The shaft rotated quite a bit without any resistance, I probably had it in the wrong position when I put it back together.  I'll have to drop the pan and check it out..

Got the valve body out.  Looks like the e-clip was out of position on the lever, and the shaft slid down out of position.  Anyone have a picture to show the proper placement of things?  Perhaps there is a good diagram in the FSM.

Got everything put back together.  The e-clip seems to have worn out or expanded. It wasn't clipping into place on all 3 points in the groove.  Got a new clip from the local tranny shop and found some photos to align everything up. That metal ball with the spring behind it is tricky!
