71 Bee Man

G'day Guys,

just wondering if anyone can tell me the benefits/downside of having an Edelbrock 8867 carb on my 383. The car is a 71 Dodge Super Bee with a 69 383. It is very streetable, doesn't seem worked and I'd just like to know if this carb is recommended/suitable for my car. Seems to use a fair bit of fuel, but I guess that's the price for running a big block.

I was wondering if it's better to look for an original carb (whatever that is) or whether the current one is a good setup.

Any advice or info is greatly appreciated. I've had the car about a year and there's not many others down here to discuss it with.

Thanks,

Peter

not my favorite carb but it should be tunable , make sure the vacuum advance is hooked to ported vacuum not manifold vacuum

Thanks heaps for replying.

So what kind of carb would you recommend ? It's a pretty standard 383, and I just want it as a nice driver. A good balance of power and economy (is that possible???)

Peter.

My preference has always been Holleys , a 750 avenger should work great or you could use a 750 dp like the 4779
power & economy are both possible , generally as the engine is tuned more efficiently both will improve
