hey folks,

I'm in the process of disassembling my car and got to the front end.  While removing the front valance and bumper, I caught a glimpse of my K-member.  Is it supposed to look like it was cut in half and have 3 layers?

If not, does AMD make a replacement?  Any other replacement ideas as I was going to go with a Hotchkis TVS.

Now I have to go crawl under my car and look.  It doesn't look normal but I never paid attention to it before so it well could be.  In any case, no AMD ones.

It's not normal. Most of them are pretty bashed up under there!    Yours is very clean!  :2thumbs:

It's right. The top part is welded to the bottom two halves which overlap in the middle.
Doesn't look like a "late" part to me at all. Looks like a standard K-frame.  :2thumbs:
The "late" K-frame in the referenced thread has stamped openings similar to a '70. Your openings are not shaped like that.

Looks like a pre 70 K frame, look for the build date number on the front lip ex: 1239 1, 123rd day 69
As Bill stated yours is clean and that overlap is normal

Whew!, thanks everyone.

My initial plan (a.k.a. dream) was to install a RMS suspension, front and rear.

Then I began disassembling the car and started costing everything... then decided that the Hotchkis TVS will be more economical.

Personally I do not see the benefits of the replacement K members and coil over stuff. The $$$  is just crazy and the durability is questionable. Sometimes the factory stuff is hard to beat.
