Apparently there were a few different thickness's available.

I could see the red one being used under a 71-72 Charger bubble hooded car... :Twocents:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

I always found it interesting that the race Daytona hoods looked "bowed" in the middle and also if you looked at the rear of the hood it always looked to be above the cowl a little bit, that coupled with the fact that the inner structure was taken out I would say they got another 1 3/4" clearance doing those two things mentioned above.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

I remember seeing a pic yrs ago of what appeared to be an experimental very low profile single 4 Hemi intake but was not a bathtub.

It was more like the 64-5 nascar except all the runners snaked down into the lifter valley then up to the head. Was a bit strange looking

Seemed like the info about the pic said it had fuel distribution problems.

Don't know if that intake was related to the extra 2" though.

And too many magazines to dig through to find it.

That's very interesting.  :scratchchin:

going off on a tangent a little  ,  I remember reading about the a148 experimental  think hemi for nascar , had a similar bath tub intake  like that  , was in a mopar mag years ago , a guy had a complete one &  put it in his red / orange superbird !   the engine was wider than the OEM  hemi

I tried telling him that. Kids these days.... ::)
When I die I want to go like my Grandfather did, quietly in his sleep.  Not screaming like the passengers in his car.

Also doesn't look anywhere near a 2 inch drop there.
