Passed my first 1,000 miles as an owner of my first 69' Charger..any advice?

So everything on my 69' R/T is doing great, no hiccups, etc. But I always like to seek the advice of other owners, is there anything you guys like to do to ensure your car stays tip-top? I was curious about carburetor cleaner, air filter, or other rituals owners like to do. Thanks  :2thumbs:

IMO,
I have always found sustained Engine warm up to be extremely beneficial, 1100 to 1200 rpm until operating temp achieved, and at the very least, no higher than 3000 rpm in the first 10 minutes or so.
Find a good quality fuel..... stay with it, and with stock Iron Heads using about 250ml of 2 stroke oil added to each tank of fuel benefits Valve Seat maintenance as a "lead" substitute.
Other than that, just regular maintenance, Oil Changes, Tune-ups,A/F. etc., etc
Only wimps wear Bowties !

Agreed with all of the above but I would like to add one thing: keep driving it.  The car will like being driven but does not like to sit.

Every so often I try to jack up each of the wheels and check for any excessive bearing play or loose steering/suspension joints.  Even new parts can sometimes be defective from the start, easier to fix problems early rather than when it completely fails.  Get under the vehicle with a flashlight and look around at all seals, brake lines, fuel lines, etc. for any leaks that might be starting.   X2 what Dino said, keep driving it, shit seems to break when you don't use it.  :lol:

A good woman in the seat next to you is always tip-top.

Points well made about checking nuts and bolts all around.  Everything and anything can loosen up.

Keep air in the tires.  I am shocked to see how many of our classics routinely have low air.  Makes for a lousy ride.

Depending on where you live think early about winterizing and/or storage.

No car ever likes to sit.  If you do just one thing with the car drive it at least once a week-yes, DRIVE, that's right, with all four wheels on the ground, turning the odometer and burying the tach needle into the red from time to time...

Thanks, I do live in WI for now so she is going to be going into storage for at least 6 months soon  :'( I have yet to get underneath the car, besides doing the oil and checking lines but I am sure I will asking for advice on how to winterize her too in the near future. Appreciate the replies, In the mean time she sees alot of road!

Old cars and airplanes......neither like to sit. Take it out weekly for a drive.
It's good for the soul...............not so much for the wallet.  :smilielol:
