Mechanical secondary opening ratio question

Can someone school me on how best to decide on the ratio for opening the secondaries?

I have a QF 830 SS and it comes with a linkage that opens the secondaries at 40%.  I decided to try changing the linkage to 1:1 to see what the difference would be.  The throttle responds differently - because the carburetor is opening sooner - and I like it.  The A/F generally looks good (even better than before) for hard acceleration from a roll, but normal driving looks like it will need some work.  It also seems like the secondaries are opened as the idle speed is adjusted.

So, what I am looking for is any information or advice on this.  Is it worth considering a 1:1 linkage, or better to just stick with the 40% opening.  I think if I could get a mile delay (like 10%) that would be ideal, but it does not look like that is feasible.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

My QF is VS so this is just an guess. I did notice that feature when shoping for carbs.

I think 40% would work better for a non race car. Under part throttle the vacuum signal would be stronger using just the front two bores, giving better carburation under smaller airflows.   :Twocents:
