Who wants to fight over "scat"?

We've even changed the pronunciation of the seventh planet from the sun since then.........

myk

Matters of money defy all forms of logic...

TXcharger70

Why not just use it as free advertising?

And thus began the embargo and subsequent demise of Scat Enterprises...goodbye

It's hard to understand how Scat Enterprises is being harmed. They very well may profit by the new found publicity. :shruggy:  If they are being harmed they should be compensated.
Sure looks like a grab for money right or wrong and let the lawyers do what they do.
Is the timing a clever type of blackmail?

DAY CLONA

Dodge is in the wrong, plain and simple, the US Patent/Trade office denied them their application, they are infringing, now some of you are saying that Scat should enjoy the "companionship" with Dodge, yet I remember a time decades ago when Chrysler pursued magazine and cottage industry repro parts makers who were using names or likeness that Chrysler said infringed on their "trademark(s)" of course a large corporate can step on smaller toes, but step on theirs?...no

Patronus

I'm wondering, are there any other words that a person could patent? We've patented things and names, and seeds...  I find it ludicrous that "scat" is patented. Can I patent the idea of patenting?
I do agree with you, Dodge is in the wrong. They lost before and just tried again.. It just pisses me off that we're here.

So there's a company called "Crap Inc" that sells crankshafts and stuff.

Then Mopar starts offering the "Crap Pack".  Crap Inc sues them over it.

:Twocents:

The word alone is not unique enough for a company to hold it like that.  Mopar isn't calling the group exactly the same thing and I don't know if they would have a case even if Mopar was doing that.

I've never understood why either Mopar or Scat wants that name in the first place.

Homerr

This is that whole BS about having to defend your trademark to keep it.  If they don't actively sue then it can be forfeit as I understand it.

Ghoste

Yeah but what a reach to make a case here.

War wagon

I bought a 2009 Ram Sport with a scat Pak stripe on the rear NEW right from the dealer 5yrs ago.... Not sure why it's such a big deal now...

If the word "scat" is what's in contention they should be aware that scat also means excrement.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Ghoste

I think to the lawyers it just means get money from Fiat.

Dino

Isn't it always about the money?  Sad, but it's how the world turns.

true dat.

For the record and the extremely slim chance that anyone with influence at Scat Enterprises see's this, I will never buy one of your products because of this ludicrous money grab attempt.

Tilting at windmills but what the hell.
