Replacing the inner fender and cowl brackets

I just finished replacing the inner fender on my charger and thought I would share a few items that might help others.   The inner fender is attached to the radiator frame, the front frame rail and shock tower and two brackets that are attached to the cowl and firewall.

First tip;  if you are replacing the cowl bracket (pic #1) make sure you mount it first.  This bracket determines how good the fender aligns and how good your gaps end up.  Pic #2 shows the critical item.  This is the hole for the stud that goes thru the fender.If this hole is not in the right place then fender alignment becomes a b!tch.

Tip  #2; now mount the inner fender. Make sure the hole for the hood hinge bolts line up nicely.  this may require some triming around the flange where the inner fender mounts to the shock tower(pic #3.)

Finally attach the piece that goes between the firewall and the fender.  This is just a filler piece so cut, bend and pound as necessary to make it fit (pic #4.)

When all is done you should find that the inner fender bolt holes for attaching the outer fender all line up nicely along the top of the inner fender and down by the radiator support and that the hinge bolt holes are really close.  Mine ended up almost exactly in the middle of the adjustment slots.

Yeah, everything came from AMD.  I think they make ok stuff, but we shouldn't expect that everything will go in with no tweaking.  For whatever reason, things take a little work, sometimes a lot of work.  I also say that some of the AMD stuff looks good but has its own problems.  Maybe I should start a thread??

Experienced body folk may expect the issues I have had.   Or not???
