So after 19 years of driving around with the same old crappy small floor jack and and big old X shaped tire iron 1/2 ass strapped in the corner of the trunk I noticed the 3/4 socket end of the tire iron split and was failing. Not having 3-4 hundred bucks for the correct jack set I knew I'd never use to jack my car by the bumper with anyway I started looking for something better. NAPA had a scissor jack on sale for 29.00 with a nice big base that would be less likely to sink into dirt like my small floor jack did so I bought one. (That meant I could ditch the hunk of plywood I kept back there also.) Then at AutoZone I see a collapsible tire iron for 15.00 on sale so hey why not.
I get home, look over my NEW stuff and realize that the cheap tool box at Harbor Freight (11.00) is just the right size to keep it in. So now I have a "Jack in the Box" to keep in my trunk!

You're friggin' hysterical did you know that?   :smilielol:

But that sure works doesn't it?   :2thumbs:

I may have to follow your lead on this one.   :yesnod:

I may just screw the box to the trunk someplace. (It's a mess back there anyway.) Funny thing is I bought that box just for the tray inside it. The tray matches the size of my new Winters Sidewinder shifter closely so I can cover the mounting brackets for the base when I carpet the car!  (I'm getting full use of my 11.00!)

Carry a similar rig in my trunk for long hauls but the box is plastic and the jack is a small floor jack style.  Handy and clean.  :2thumbs:

It was like 40% on sale, free LED flashlight and parts washing bushes are 2 for 2.00 unlike 4.99 for one everywhere else. The trick there is know exactly what you need-get it-get out. If you start wandering around looking a crap your DOOMED!

Looks like a rattle waiting to happen, I'd carpet the inside of the box and wrap the components.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Few tools, meter and a bunch of clean shop towels to keep down rattles. :2thumbs:

i like your idea. and agree with the carpet, or the padding that is in the drawers of my stand up tool boxes. and next is to paint a tail stripe on that box!!!  we used to have a thread with tool boxes with the painted 68 or 69 tail stripe on it. :yesnod:
