Gearbox in my Superbee, ex-Charger?

Vin is XP29H9B224508

Which I think is out of a 1969 383 Charger. Is this stamping legit as I've heard they didn't put complete Vin numbers on gearboxes.

If it's fake, why fake a Vin number on a nothing special 69 Charger?

What should the stamping look like?

'69 was the only year for the full VIN on engine/trans.

Aha! Thanks guys, especially you John, that's something I did not know.

Now to hope some guy in a Charger has the gearbox out of my car, boy do I have a deal for him!

just remember these cars were built to be beat on    replacement gearboxes ,diffs even engines  was the norm when you broke it

Yeah I know, I was just dreaming out loud. The important thing is the cars survive and if you enjoy driving them then who cares what the numbers say.

I would still love a 68 Charger one day but I just can't let this crazed thing go!

But if I come into about $30K i will be getting one, mark my words!
