How does the 69 A/C fan switch work?

I took this switch apart a long time ago because the fan didn't work.  I now know it was something else that caused this so I was about to clean this up and put it back together but I really don't understand how this is supposed to work.  I don't think that metal arm even touches the little board and if it does how does it make the fan work at 3 different speeds?

Is something missing here?

I tested the wire ends for continuity and that checked out.  I don't want to spend $200+ on a nos switch so I hope this can be fixed.

just read your wanted ad , after I drew pictures whats missing :P

the spring is like whats in a wheel cylinder , but smaller may be 3/8 or 7/8 of a inch ,  & a copper / brass slider plate connection thingy

this switch gives you the 2nd & third blower speeds

Thanks tan top!   :2thumbs:

I had all the A/C parts in a box and there is no spring or copper thingy so I guess it was missing before I got it.  I thought it was odd when I took it apart way back when that it looked as if someone had fiddled with it before.  I sure hope someone has on for sale, it's kinda keeping me from putting everything back together now.

Hi guys,

On my side I try to replace my original switch (with A/C) :

- 3 wires (brown, light green, dk green)
- Female plug

By this one, took on a plate from a non A/C car :

- 4 wires (brown, light green, dk green and a black on the top)
- Male plug for the 3 color wires
- Female plug for the black one

The main difference is :
The light and dark green seems to be reversed between "H" (I think high fan speed) and and "L" (low).
I'd know if someone ever did this modification ?
What is the purpose of the black wire ?

I tried to find with the electrical diagram, but it doesn't really help.
